The Uncomfortable Truth and The Human Lie

These are two of the most honest and raw questions a person can ask. The truth of the Scripture is strong enough to answer both without compromise.

The Uncomfortable Truth: The One Way

In a culture that teaches all paths lead to the same destination, the idea of a single, narrow road can feel intolerant. But the question is not what is comfortable; it is what is true. The Scriptures do not offer multiple ways to a holy God. They offer one. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself was unapologetic about this:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6, KJV)

This is not the arrogance of a prophet, but the declaration of the Creator. The only payment for our sin is the shed blood of a perfect sacrifice, and only Jesus Christ, being both fully God and fully man, could be that sacrifice. To claim there are other ways is to say His death was unnecessary.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, KJV)

This raises a crucial question: If Jesus is the only way, what about those who lived before He came?

The Scripture is clear that the method of salvation has always been the same: by grace through faith. Think of it this way: The cross of Christ is the single, great payment for sin in all of human history.

  • Those who lived before the cross (like Abraham) were saved by looking forward in faith, trusting God's promise that this payment would be made.

  • Those who live after the cross are saved by looking back in faith, trusting that this payment was made.

The object of their faith and our faith is the same: the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah.

The only difference is our perspective in time. Abraham's faith was counted as righteousness because he believed God's promise of a coming Redeemer.

“For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” (Romans 4:3, KJV)

The Human Lie: The Reality of Hypocrisy

This is perhaps the most painful barrier. Many have looked at those who call themselves "Christians" and have seen lies, greed, and abuse.

This betrayal is real.

But the Bible is the most honest book ever written about the hypocrisy of mankind, including its own heroes. It is not a testament to the goodness of man, but an exposé of our sin to prove our desperate need for a divine Savior. The hypocrisy you see is not a flaw in the message of Jesus; it is proof of why the message is so necessary.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23, KJV)

The Lord Himself warned that many who claim His name are not His true followers.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21, KJV)

The solution to the hypocrisy you have seen is not to reject the truth, but to turn to the only one who has ever lived it perfectly. Put your trust in the Victor, Jesus Christ, not in His flawed followers.
